Over the last few weeks there has been a lot of chatter, and laughter, about people stockpiling toilet rolls and food. Everyone has been scared that they’d run out of something if and when we went into lock-down, so they did what they considered to be the best plan - buy as much as they could and store it up.
The other side of this was, of course, the sadness as we saw reports of vulnerable people, NHS staff and pensioners going to do their shopping but there was nothing to be found.
It’s a crazy time and we can choose to add to the craziness, or to help calm it down.
Our verse today reminds us of part of the character of God. He is a God who provides what we need, when we need it. And He has never failed yet.
We, as a family, have had more than one occasion where a gift of groceries was left anonymously on our doorstep... just when we were out of money for the end of the month. Jehovah Jireh.
And we’ve had lots of occasions when something big would break in the house, be it the washing machine, or the fridge, or even the car and we’d receive a cheque through the post from to cover what we needed to replace. Jehovah Jireh.
Our God is the God who provides, ladies, and He always will. We don’t need to be fearful of what is coming or worried if we have enough loo roll - we just need to trust Him, have faith in His promises and believe.
