Day 35 - Check everything in Scripture

Recently I took part in a recipe exchange and I received some lovely recipes that I get to try out in the next week or two!

One thing that is very popular is scones. People love scones! So I now have at least five different scone recipes to try!

Looking at them, they all seem similar - but with slight variations. They all need the same ingredients but in slightly different measurements...

The only way I am going to figure out which is the best recipe is to go through and try them all. The proof will definitely be in the pudding (or scone!!).

Today’s verse says:

“They searched the Scriptures day after day
to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.”
‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭17:11‬ ‭

Lots of people have lots of different versions of the Bible. There are so many different teachers out there. And there are so many different churches.

How would you know what to listen to, or who to go see preach, or who is telling the truth? They can be so so similar but have very different results.

The Christians in our verse did what we need to do. When they heard Paul and Silas preach, they then went home and searched to see if what they said was true. They didn’t just take it as fact. They didn’t believe blindly. They searched.

There are so many different people out there who will delight in telling you what you want to hear -

* preachers on TV who say God wants you to wealthy... so send us money and He’ll bless you
* people that say that God’s rules don’t matter as much anymore
* those who say we should do what we want and God will okay with it if we say sorry after

All we need to do is read the Bible and check. It’s called God’s Word for a reason - and it is there to help and guide us. And if you hear something, or watch something - just check it.

There’s a great app - the Bible app - that has a search part to it, so you can check if certain things really are in the Bible.

Bit long today - sorry!!! Stay safe!
