Schooling at home... what a joy! π΅π€ͺ Yesterday I fought my way through geography with the little one (yeah - he’s in year 8 and has no interest whatsoever!!) This is what we ended up with.
We were learning about volcanoes and earthquakes - how the plates collide and the friction causes the earthquakes and volcanoes to erupt. The most interesting statement was the fact that although volcanoes cause DEATH, for Japan they also brought LIFE.
It got me thinking about something we read in James 3 -
“And so blessing and cursing come pouring out
of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and
sisters, this is not right!” (v10)
Our words are so important.
They can bring LIFE by encouragement, blessing, praise, lifting those around us up and of course when we glorify and worship God.
But they can also bring DEATH when we curse people, put people down, use language that doesn’t need used, nag and belittle people and constantly bicker.
At this time, when we are all stuck in our homes, even for the best of reasons, we can choose how we use our words. We can make this time a time of love and joy, or a time of pain and hurting.
We need to make sure we use our words to build up those around us, help create a true haven in our homes and a place that it’s not hard to be in.
We can do this ladies. It’s true when they say if the lady of the house isn’t happy, it affects the whole house. We can choose joy and choose to use our words for LIFE. π
