Yesterday I shared about my mother-in-law's beautiful poem. Here is now the rest of the weekend looked...
Saturday 21st...
We started the day with my youngest son's latest jujitsu grading. He has been doing jujitsu for the last 3 years and is now onto his green belt. It is amazing how it has helped him and his coaches are fantastic. He's now going to be doing one of the most exciting belts - everyone says its the best to do. Dear help us if he needs to practise!
We then went as a family to a board game cafe near us for an afternoon of games. Jack Straws is a lovely wee place where the staff know all the games and are amazing at bringing you the ones you didn't know you wanted! We played three different games in the time we were there, all of them so much fun. We played Corks, Hive Mind and Colour Brain. We had never played any of them before so it was really fun to learn and play as we went. We will definitely be making this a regular occurrence!
Sunday 22nd...
This is the actual 50th anniversary for hubby's parents, but they sneakily took themselves off for the weekend so we just sent them lots of sweet texts. We had a lovely relaxing day watching movies and then went to our church Carol Service in the evening. The Pastor spoke about the shepherds and their importance in being included in the Christmas story. Really interesting and encouraging thoughts. And of course we sang lots of beautiful carols. Its was all done by the light of twinkling light strings which made it even more magical. A lovely way to get into the holiday spirit!
Monday 23rd...
Its the day before Christmas Eve... and so this was one of our family days. We had a relaxing morning before having hubby's eldest brother and his family over for coffee and cakes just after lunch. They live in England - which I know isn't that far away, but we still don't get to see them an awful lot - so it was lovely to be able to spend time with them. Then after an hour or two break ( where I may or may not have gone to bed and had a NAP!!) my mum and dad arrived for an afternoon of games and then tea. Oh boy - that was a fun afternoon. My dad is wonderful but some games fox him completely so he makes them even funnier! We ended up with a lovely Chinese treat for tea. It is lovely for my kids to be able to have some alone time with their grandparents since we both come from large families and so there are always other grand kids there when we go see them. It was a really lovely day, but I was too busy having fun and forgot to take photos!!
Tuesday 24th...
It's Christmas Eve!!!! This is where it gets exciting! We have an odd but wonderfully fun Christmas Eve tradition in our house. We always go out for brunch and go to the cinema... well that was the general idea until last year we made it even better! So this year's plan was this:
- 10:50am - go to see Jumanji in the cinema
- 1:15pm - have lunch at one of the cinema's lovely restaurants
- 3:00pm - go to see Star Wars in the cinema
A double whammy - and what a set of films it was! They were both brilliant and both very well worth a watch. And as for lunch - yummy yummy!! It definitely wasn't Slimming World friendly, but its Christmas so there you go!
And that takes us to the big day itself... and I'll share about that tomorrow!
Keep shining xxx
