It's Christmas morning. Hubby and I are awake, waiting for the boys to start to get up and around. We're long past the 5 am wake-ups but this morning we had to wait until 8:30 am before we got the boys to actually surface! Yes we were all excited to get downstairs to see what gems were under the tree, but for us, especially this year, Christmas means a lot more.
We start our Christmas with a reading and this year my eldest prayed before we did anything else. Christmas is a special time of year where we remember what happened in Bethlehem many years ago. Not only did God give us a gift, He gave us the most precious gift of all. He sent His only Son to be born as a baby - a most vulnerable and human baby - to live a perfect life and die on a cross for our sins. This perfect little baby grew up to be the one thing that is keeping me from the consequences of my sinful life. He died to take my sin, to take my punishment instead of me. How amazing is that!
Christmas is about joy, sacrifice, God's gifts to us and family time. And this year we incorporated all of these into our day. We had the joy of worshipping with our church to remember God's gift and sacrifice, before the joy of joining with both families for some lunch and some family time. This year we spent most of the day with hubby's parents and had an amazing feast, before calling in to my mum and dad for an hour to celebrate with them. Then we relaxed for the rest of the evening at home. What a perfect day!
Praying you all had a wonderful Christmas. Keep shining xxx
