A birthday to remember...

So Christmas has come and gone, and we wake up to a very special day. It's my eldest's 18th birthday!!! I can't quite believe it has been 18 years since he arrived and turned our life upside down.

Benjamin was due on 7th January so we were excited to have a quiet Christmas before the chaos of a newborn came! But on the day before Christmas Eve my waters broke and I ended up in hospital. I spent Christmas Day in the maternity ward before having an emergency c-section on Boxing Day evening. He was the first baby born that day and I couldn't believe it. I spent all night watching him - no matter how many times the midwives told me to sleep!

He has been an amazing child to watch as he has grown up. He is a fabulous public speaker and such an amazing heart for people. He wants to do law next year at university, but his main focus is his faith in God. He loves God so much and is such an good witness to everything he believes. He stands up for what is right, with integrity, compassion and love. I am so very proud of him.

For his big birthday we bought him 18 little gifts including a beautiful Bible (which he helped pick) and wrote him letters to keep. And we threw him the first of two family parties, before he celebrates with his friends. We had food, fellowship and lots of fun, with a lot of lovely pavlova! It was a very special day and I really am so proud to be his mama!

Happy 18th Benjamin!
