This morning I shared one of my favourite verses. It is a verse that reminds us who we are and who God created us to be. In this time of fear and panic, we are given a spirit of power, of love and of sound mind. We don't have to panic. We don't have to fear. We don't have to feel alone. God has this. God has us.
One of the ways we can help each other and stay in sound mind over these weeks and months, is to fill your hearts and minds with the Word of God. Obviously reading and studying the Bible will be essential to our spiritual health, but worship music can play a huge part in overcoming any fears.
One of the songs I love, I was introduced to during the Passion conference in Green Pastures Church, and it is very fitting to our situation right now. The song is 'Not afraid' and the lyrics are...
Reading through the choruses (in bold) we are reminded that no matter what we walk through God is there making a way for us. Whether its like Moses walking through the Red Sea, David standing up before Goliath or the world today making its way through the coronavirus outbreak, God is there - before, behind and beside us.
Hallelujah! Now can anyone truly be afraid or panicked if they are singing this song at the top of their voices? Not a chance! I believe God has given us the gift of worship, not only to give Him praise and glory, but to encourage us and remind us of His love and promises.
So here is the video of Jesus Culture singing 'Not Afraid', and since I've supplied the words above, you've no excuse but to sing sing sing!!!

I have this confidence because
I've seen the faithfulness of God
I've seen the faithfulness of God
The still inside the storm, the promise of the shore
I trust the power of Your word
Enough to seek Your Kingdom first
Beyond the barren place, beyond the ocean waves
When I walk through the waters, I won't be overcome
When I go through the rivers, I will not be drowned
When I go through the rivers, I will not be drowned
My God will make a way, so I am not afraid
You keep the promises You make
There isn't one that is delayed
There isn't one that is delayed
So I will not lose heart, here, I will lift my arms
And start to sing into the night
My praise will call the sun to rise
Declare the battle won, declare that it is done
When I walk through the waters, I won't be overcome
When I go through the rivers, I will not be drowned
When I go through the rivers, I will not be drowned
My God will make a way, so I am not afraid
When I am in the fire, I will not feel the flame
I'll stand before the giant, declaring victory
My God will make a way, so I am not afraid
