I definitely need to be a little more focused on gratitude so I’m doing the 1000 gifts challenge again. Today’s prompt is
3 GIFTS MOVING
So I’ve come up with these!
1. A river moving towards the sea...
I found this verse recently and it just blew me away. Such a simple thing - the river runs into the sea - but the sea is never full. The water cycle starts all over again - and repeats forever. This photo is from Ballycastle - a beautiful part of Northern Ireland. The river is always moving - always towards the sea. So thankful for the beauty around us that God created and for the memories we make where the rivers meet the sea.
2. A bridge ...
This picture is of a very famous bridge in NI. It’s called Carrick-a-rede Rope bridge and my eldest and I took some visitors to see it last month. It is a lovely wee bridge, about 30m above the waves and is a great place to visit - until you have to walk over it! The day we went wasn’t too windy so it wasn’t as bad as it could be, but it still moves a lot - especially when some eejit jumps on it when you’re in the middle! The thing about it is, once you cross over you have to come back again. There was one girl who had made it across to the island, and when she realised she had to walk over the bridge again to get back, she looked terrified. She’d already been across once, and made it - safely, but was terrified of trying it again. It just made me think of how we put our faith in God through hard times, yet when it comes to going through the next situation or making the next big decision, we are terrified and forget what he’s already done for us.
3. The whirl of a washing machine...
This one is a bit funny as I’ve never thought about it too much! But today I was doing laundry and watched the whites going round and round. They go in dirty - and I have boys so some of them are DIRTY! - but come out spotless and as white as snow. So today I’m thankful for technology that means I can watch them being washed rather than doing it myself, and for the visual reminder of what Jesus does for us.
So that’s my 3 gifts moving. Looking forward to doing the next one!
