I thought since it’s Wednesday - it is Wednesday isn’t it?! - I'd share some wisdom from Proverbs. I love Proverbs - it’s a bit funny with lovely verses thrown together with some real crackers!
It also has one of my favourite verse -
"An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips."
Proverbs 24:26
How lovely is that!
But the verse I wanted to share is this one -
"As iron sharpens iron,
so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."
Proverbs 27:17
Ladies, we are all in this together and we can get all caught up in what we SHOULD be doing and how we SHOULD be feeling and how we SHOULD be thinking. But when we get together (albeit virtually) with friends they help to steady us and bring us back down to reality. Sometimes with a bump!
True friends are the best present ever, and if your friends are also Christians, we have a true gift.
A friend who will take you to the side and ask you what’s wrong is special. A friend who will take you to side, pray for you and lead to what the Bible says is a treasure.
When we have friends who aren’t afraid to tell us what’s what, who aren’t afraid to challenge us on our thoughts/behaviours, then we are like iron sharpening iron. We are helping each other become more Christ-like. And that is the best friendship ever.
So who do you have in your life who will call you out when your mind wanders and you start drifting into self-pity, temptation or just being plain stupid?!
God gives us friends to do life with and help through life. Celebrate your friends today!
