Riverdance

One of the most famous things to come out of Ireland is the amazing Riverdance. Last night my mum and I got to go and watch the 25th Anniversary Show and it was truly fantastic. While you weren't allowed to take photos or video while the performance I thought I'd share a few pics and clips I found online. Check out the amazing video here!

The most amazing group of singers and musicians also are part of the show. And all I can say is WOW! They have the most amazingly crystal clear voices and even in the huge arena you could have heard a pin drop as they sang. Truly beautiful.

The skill and discipline that each one of the dancers, singers and musicians are plainly visible as you watch their feet move faster than anything I've ever seen. Such timing and precision can only be the result of hours and hours of practice - every single day, every single week, every single month, for years. I found this a couple of years ago and I loved it -

Every skill like this needs discipline and so does living the Christian life.

You would think when you get the opportunity to have a personal relationship with the King of kings and the creator of the universe, you would want to spend time with Him constantly, letting Him into every part of your day and wanting to learn more and more about Him. But we are human, so it's not that easy.

It takes discipline to make time in your day to really read and study the Bible. It takes discipline to spend time praying - and not just asking for a 'I want' list - really praying and communicating with God. And it takes discipline to really learn more about Him, to really worship Him and to really honour Him.

But like the cast of Riverdance, when you spend the time and out the effort in, day in and day out, the result is visible. It is there in how you treat people, in how you deal with painful situations, in how you make decisions, in how you live and in how you love. It is as visible and obvious as the skills we watched the dancers exhibit other night, and in the music we enjoyed.

God is amazing - so totally and utterly mind-blowing. And we get to live with Him and have an actual friendship beyond anything we can imagine. So let's put in the effort, so we can really shine for Him in the world around us.
